Introduction to Cardew Lodge
Cardew Lodge is an endearingly different Listed Grade II Period Country Mansion.
Built mainly of sandstone in the 1870’s originally as a Hunting Lodge for Major-General W H Lowther, it incorporates many unique features. Extensions were made to the house in 1889 by the architect/ owner C J Ferguson. The circular castle-like turrets on one end of the long main house with its various attractive gable ends to the front aspect, makes the property something between a castle and a luxurious country house.
